Bike Rollers

FREE SHIPPING THIS WEEK ON ALL ITEMS MARKED "FREE SHIPPING"

Bike rollers are very popular with cyclists. Regular training on a roller improves physical fitness and enhances a sense of balance and pedaling technique.

Many serious cyclists prefer bike rollers for several reasons:

1. Cycle rollers help riders practice proper riding form. Other indoor trainers allow riders to stomp on the pedals with little regard to form or control, whilst rollers demand riders spin the pedals in a smooth fashion.

2. Bike rollers train cyclists to ride in a straight line. Beginners often have difficulty riding straight, a dangerous trait when riding in traffic or groups. Rollers help you finely tune your balance, necessary for the close quarters of a peleton, as they don't tolerate much side to side movement, forcing the cyclist to ride straight... or… fall off!

See below our list of products on how to start up on bike rollers.

Starting up with Bike Rollers

1. Adjust your cycling rollers for the bike you will be using. Generally, you want the front roller to be just ahead of the front hub, a bit either way is okay.

2. Make sure the cycle rollers are level.

3. Make sure your tyres are in good condition and properly inflated.

4. Set your bike roller up next to a table or in a door frame. You want to be able to catch yourself if you start to fall. Clear away any possibly dangerous objects.

5. Put the bike on the rollers, get on the bike and clip into the pedals.

6. Start in a high gear. When you improve, you'll be able to pedal in low gears.

7. Start pedaling while still holding onto the table or door frame. As the wheels pick up speed, you will find it easier to balance.

8. When ready let go of your support.

9. Keep looking a few metres ahead.

10. Shift gears when you are comfortable.
