Sleeping Bag Cleaning

Synthetic Sleeping Bags

CARE

A synthetic sleeping bag is durable and easy to care for. The most effective way to care for it is to keep it clean. You can reduce the need to wash it by using a sleeping bag liner, a sleeping mat and spot cleaning any marks.

  • do not bleach
  • do not iron
  • do not dry clean
  • machine or hand wash - see below
  • secure all zippers and tabs during washing
  • tumble dry at low setting. Too hot may melt fabric.

WASHING

Machine Wash: Use a front end loader on a gentle cycle, set warm (upto 30deg C) and use a pure mild soap.

Handwash:

1. fill bath to 150mm with warm water and add pure mild soap.

2. add bag and gently massage into the water until it is completly soaked.

Important: Do not try to lift the bag out of the tub heavy with water as the material or inner baffles may tear.

3. let soak for 1-4 hours and then let the water out.

4. release the dirty water and refill the tub, massaging the water into the bag. Repeat until suds free.

5. when clean press as much water as you can out of the bag.

6. still in the tub, fold the ends of the semi-dry bag in towards the centre, press firmly to squeeze out excess water.

7. then dry in a tumble dryer on a low setting, or air dry flat over a couple of towels.

Down Sleeping Bag

CARE

To help maintain the high performance of your down sleeping bag and to prolong its life:

  • do not store compressed, hang in a loose fitting cotton or mesh large bag
  • do not roll or fold your bag into the compression sack - use your fist to force it in.
  • when camping lay out your sleeping bag for as long as possible prior to bed, to fully uncompress the down
  • use a sleeping mat and liner
  • KEEP DRY

WASHING

Handwash Only:

  • do not bleach
  • do not dry clean
  • do not machine wash
  • tumble dry at low setting. Too hot may melt fabric.

Down Bags are made with an internal baffle system, consisting of fine mesh panels that keep the down in seperate areas. Wet down is heavy and you can tear these baffles if not careful.

Make sure all tabs and zippers are closed during washing.

1. fill bath to 150mm with warm water and add pure mild soap.

2. add bag and gently massage into the water until it is completly soaked.

8. Do Not dry in direct sunlight as excessive UV will degrade the shell fabric.
