IMax 5W LED Bike Light
This is a compact and solidly made bike light. It is multifunctional - is supplied with a bicycle handlebar bracket, and easily slides out preventing theft, and at the same time making a great torch.
It has 3 modes, constant, flash and constant 10 minutes then flash SOS.

This is a VERY bright and powerful light.
It gives out a bright focused beam and when pointed ahead of the bike
- 4-5m - you get a very bright rectangular lighted area about 2.5m wide x 1 m deep with good side & forwards diffusion
- 7-9m - you get a well lit up area about 4m wide x 2m deep with lots of extra diffusion to help see.

Rechargeable NiMH Batteries
If you are going to only use your front light as a flasher, then certainly standard alkaline batteries will be fine, and will give a decent life. If you intend to regularly use the light as a torch, or in constant bike light mode, then do consider rechargeable batteries. A set of NiMH batteries, in between charges, will last 3-4 times longer than standard batteries, and will recharge 100s of times - making your battery cost negligible in the longer term.
