Front Mount Childrens Bike Seat
Q. Will the baby seat fit my bike?
A. The baby seat fits most bikes.
All you need is a space of 40mm clear: either on the stem just below the handlebar, or else a space on the frame tube straight underneath the handlebar.
The actual bracket mount is 35mm high.
A couple of different bikes are pictured and hopefully clarify if the seat will fit your bike.
Please contact us for further clarification if required.
Will a front Bilby Mount Child Bike Seat fit my bike?
Many bikes will be able to fit this style of baby seat. You need a 40mm minimum clearance on your headstem or head tube.
What does this mean?
Bikes are built with one of two styles of headstems.
1. Quill Stem........... and they look these examples below:
If you have 40mm clearance you can fit a seat onto a quill stem.
If you do not have 40mm clearance you may still be able to fit the baby bike seat onto the headtube as described next.
2. Threadless Stems....look like this
There is no room on the stem to fit the baby seat bracket so you need to check if the frame below, the head tube, has room, like so:
But alas whilst many bikes will fit a front mounted baby seat, some don't. If your bike looks like this...it won't fit!
It has no room on the stem or on the head tube area.
