FIR (Fabbrica Italiana Ruote) wheels have enjoyed an influential part in cycling history. Past riders have included Mario Cipollini and they have enjoyed many podiums in both road and off road events.
A Brief History:
1956: Arrigoni brothers found FIR in Boltiere (Bergamo province)
1960-1970 FIR introduces the quality control during the manufacturing process and selects some professional cycling teams to test its new products.
1980 FIR is the first wheels’ manufacturer to introduce the use of carbon in wheel manufacturing process, creating the “Aru System”.
1990 FIR uses feedback of professional cycling teamsto create high quality products for leisure riders and to upgrade security issues as well.
Within a few years FIR wheels were present in every cycling field:
1987: Winner of Giro d’Italia, and Tour de France with Stephen Roche
1991: World Championship Downhill
1993: World Championship XC
1995: World Championship, World Cup, Paris-Roubaix road racing
1996: World Championship, World Cup, Paris-Roubaix road racing
1997: Giro d’Italia road racing
2013: A rebirth under the leadership of Gilberto Parolin.
