Conversion bars are used when you are unable to fit a ladies bike, full suspension or child's or similar onto a car's bike rack.
The adaptor bar is placed between the seatpost and the steerer tube and "acts as the bike frame", thereby allowing the bike to now be carried on the car bike rack.
