When touring it is really nice to be able to regularly change your hand position so that you don't have constant pressure in one position.
Touring, or trekking, handlebars offer a great solution for this.
Not only do the touring bars offer several different positions to rest your hands, they can be rotated upwards or downwards to increase their height thus allowing you to sit more upright.
The benefits of these bars apply to commuting as well.
